I have always used WordWeb (https://wordweb.info) and I’m yet to find something better (and simpler) either on desktop or mobile. It gives me pronunciations using sounds from commonly spoken words. For me, the method depends mainly from the resources I have. For Spanish I'm using spanishdict.com and it has a convienient way to create lists of words, so I just save a new word I see and then after some time I convert that into flashcards. The best way to improve your vocabulary is to read more. Read good-quality material (classic novels and quality newspapers, not social media or tabloids). Whenever you encounter a word you don't know, look it up in a dictionary and note what it means in the context of what you are reading.
