There is a great website (wikitree.com) that has a group dedicated to helping resolve NPEs all way back through your tree, as much as they can. Obviously the more recent, the more people tested, and the more accurate/available the public records are the easier it'll be, but you might want to enlist their help. Source: about 1 year ago

I am hoping if anyone can find any proof Jonathan Ferris' wife was Elizabeth Mead that they could show me. The tool in question is called ImageJ. It's an open source piece of image analysis software, commonly used in biology for processing microscope images.
