I used to use this (https://connectify.me/) application in 2016-2018 for the same purpose to get a private wifi network for gaming at university (which did not allow game systems on its internet even in the dorms) off my laptop for my other devices. You can share it with their Windows based Connectify software. They supposedly offer port forwarding if you upgrade to their Teams service, which you can be a team of 1. I haven't tried that. Source: over 1 year ago
