I use a free account at weebly.com. I have created a web page for each ancestor and then post photos and information. The thing I like is the content can be updated as I find new things. I don't use the site as a blog but you could: https://www.weebly.com/features/start-a-blog. I suggest that you also have a look at wordpress.com and wix.com. Honestly I was planning to move there so I got the job, but the work visa fell through (due to some really lame german education regulations) so I got to work remotely now.
