First of all, I would stay far away from wsb if you're looking for solid advice. However, if you just want to know how to get started, yes, you're going to need a brokerage account/IRA somewhere. One really cool feature that KOReader has for self-hosters though is support for wallabag, which is a "read it later" service that you can self-host. Then you can access your saved articles through its web UI, Android app or KOReader. I highly recommend checking it out if you like reading articles.
