I believe there’s software for detecting and removing double typed letters. It was developed for people suffering the same issue on butterfly keys. Google for it. Here’s one app example. Source: about 2 years ago

I use the Contexts [1] app, couldn't live without it (not affiliated...) It shows me all open Windows and in which Desktop, in its Sidebar (I've disabled the macOS dock.)
