Another place you can look for more general assets and prefabs (decoration, furniture, plants, etc.) is the Unity Asset store itself https://assetstore.unity.com/ and you can filter for free assets if you'd like. I've been using mixkit a lot lately. Someone already mentioned this, but I often also use sounds for things other than what they are. For example I think I recently used a cow coughing for an explosion. For gun sound effects you might look for things being dropped or things hitting other things. Source: 12 months ago
