Why not just use https://www.rawtherapee.com/ or https://www.darktable.org/ to process raw files? You can still export from these as .xcf or tiff for further work in gimp if you like. You can control some DSLRs with a USB for Octolapse but it's not easy at all. You will have to make a custom script using something like gphoto2 which is a relatively sophisticated program just to trigger your camera. Then you'll have to make another one to download the image from the camera's RAM to the Pi and move it to the correct directory. It's also much more prone to failure as Octolapse will require a...
