You can control some DSLRs with a USB for Octolapse but it's not easy at all. You will have to make a custom script using something like gphoto2 which is a relatively sophisticated program just to trigger your camera. I loved using https://dslrdashboard.info/ when I had a compatible DSLR. My current mirrorless is no longer compatible. There's a version for just about every OS. Can grab it right from the Apple app store or Google Play store too. Works with a USB connection from phone to camera if necessary. Source: about 2 years ago
