Pick a language you followed and liked at Uni, check there is decent job demand for it, and do a udemy.com course on it (great value, great content, very cheap). You can control almost all of what youre looking for using a system called camranger. They also sell a tripod head which means you can control the direction of the camera. Do you have a laptop with a USB 3.0 port? If you have that and a long USB 3.0 cable with the Micro-B connector on one end (which looks like this) then you can connect the D810 to your laptop and use a tethering app on the laptop to both see the camera's live view and to control it.
