Listening to smooth jazz in coffee shops lead me to chillout and downtempo, and when my daughter was born I didn't have as much time to DJ in bars so I filled the gap by hanging out in chillout rooms on turntable.fm, where vaporwave began to spread. You might also want to look into the website cytu.be, where you can create your own channel to watch Google Drive-hosted videos, YouTube, Vimeo, etc., synced up for multiple users.
