  • Maryland will hand out 133,000 Chromebooks to the public
    > a vendor locked in Chromebook Choose your poison. Macbooks are tightly knit with Apple and phone home, but are absurdly expensive and people pay for the privilege of getting spied on. Same with Chromebooks: we're just another datapoint for Google, and much more data is collected. Why not hand out Thinkpads flashed with Trisquel Linux[0]? (A Libre Linux that respects privacy?). And don't get me started on Windows... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • What's your take on privacy focused services?
Not a 'service' but Trisquel OS is a fully freedom-respecting and privacy-aware distro, and has no telemetry or phoning home. Source: 11 months ago
  • Returning my ReMarkable 2
I don't own a cell phone and my computer is entirely free, its BIOS replaced with libreboot running Trisquel, a 100% free-software operating system. Others can do this, too, if they really want the freedom. It is not hard, nor does it require expertise. It only requires the will to do it. Source: 11 months ago
  • I like Ubuntu but not it's telemetry, any recomendations for distro?
There's Trisquel, which is a GNU approved distro based on Ubuntu with all the non-free stuff removed. Otherwise I'd suggest something Debian or Devuan based, like MX Linux or Refracta. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Gold for the best free cleaner for Windows
I use a KDE derivative, FerenOS. To me personally, KDE has the right amount of customizability and ease-of-use but for the record, I did try out Mint, Zorin OS, Stock Ubuntu, Vanilla OS, Deepin, Pop!_OS, Fedora Linux, Arch Linux, Nitrux, Elementary OS, Puppy Linux and pretty much all of the Linux distros under the sun. KDE was what I like best. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Installing KDE Plasma desktop without replacing Linux Mint entirely
There's also Feren OS, which is a combination of Linux Mint's Cinnamon and KDE. It's a distro out of the UK. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Something Minimalist but User-friendly
Try Feren OS. It's made with windows users in mined and has a Windows 11 Layout. And I think there is a layout called classical which might be what you want as far as the feel. Source: over 1 year ago
  • KDE Wayland Tearing Protocol Ready to Be Merged
I've tried to like Gnome, but I find it a hassle to rebuild things to work the way I want it (nevermind the worry that when things updates, I have to wait and recheck many of the extensions to update or if things breaks). I really recommend trying out more customized KDE experience like Feren, Garuda, or Xero. You may find a UX you like, and then you can just use that as basis with other distro that suits your...
