I would look into non-authoring approaches. Gamebooks and dungeon/hex crawls are one early example. Nowadays people are experimenting with analog techniques (like using cut-ups), or computer tech that takes advantage of machine learning like (Write With Transformer (AIDungeon is the more famous/infamous one, but more are emerging). To preface this, I've been playing around with AI-assisted novel writing for a while, having used HoloAI and NovelAI quite extensively, and playing around with KoboldAI and the Nerys and Erebus models they've trained. So far, my impression had been that the quality of the locally hosted models didn't quite live up to the paid offerings, coming down to (presumably) less finetuned models and less capable GUIs.
