I don’t think comments make a story more visible on HN, it’s not like https://tildes.net/ My belief actually is that visibility of posts is suppressed if they get, say, 20 comments and already have 50 votes. Https://squabblr.co/ was created some time ago. It is portal very similar to reddit. But recently its owner declared that he is not supporting LGBTQ+ and that Squabblr will be free speech portal (it doesn't mean that he will block content which is pro LGBT, it jus that he doesn't want to block content which is not).
