It was the closest thing to a dating app based on your music taste by being tied to your last.fm account. If you just needed a concert buddy or wanted to talk music, it filled those niches well. If you're just shopping around / looking for comparatives, then sites like apartments.com, and https://sfbay.craigslist.org/ are good for getting an overview, keeping in mind they have a bit of a bias in their numbers as they only compare / show what they have so using at least two sites to get a "baseline" would be best.
