Blender is amazing for rigging, but for everything else you described I'd say you should consider svgator.com. Not that popular from what I've seen on here, and the free plan is limited, but as far as ease of using goes it's hard to beat. It's browser-based, so there's nothing to install/download. Yeah, for sure you can give It a try! Imo you have to use a lite desktop environment like xfce maybe . You can have a pretty good idea of what can be your experience Just running a live distro like Ubuntu xfceUbuntu xfce or Linux Mint xfce, if you are really desperate you can also try a very very lightweight like puppy linux.
