You could give a try to statping (https://github.com/statping/statping). From what I know it works fine with localhost, has a nice GUI and many outputs (slack, mail, sms, we hooks...). Source: almost 3 years ago

Perhaps something like Statping or maybe healthchecks depending on what exactly you want to monitor. I definitely recommend Zabbix or Prometheus but I'm not sure about running them on a Pi Zero. Source: almost 3 years ago
Outside of the on-prem homelab I have a VPS that I use to serve anything that I feel needs to have a better uptime and redundancy than what I can provide here. What I mean by that is, I recently moved to Canada from the USA for work and wanted to ensure that the sites I use would be up incase anyone would want it. Basically, I'm getting results like these on average: https://imgur.com/X7RV1LH from running Salesforce's speedtest tool. It's a pretty new computer, brand new job for me (though I experienced this in an old job as well) so I don't have a great baseline. As you can see, everything is good except the download speeds.
