Comparing Package Managers
Scappman is an excellent option if you want to go fully hosted, especially with a multi-tenant environment where App Sets will change your life! The advanced features are excellent, I’m a fan of the deployment rings in particular and the ability to add custom apps is one feature which Patch My PC is currently lacking. It does come at a cost though and whilst $11 per user,...

  • PSA: If anyone wants a better start menu experience on Windows, install Open Shell
If you use Windows 10, startisback is by the same dev as StartAllBack: http://startisback.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I made Windows 10 look like Windows 8.1
Just a sec, I made Windows 10 look like Windows 8.1 with Startisback (get it at startisback.com if you don't have it). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Glad to say I stayed with vegas pro since i started editing about 7 years ago. Just finished cutting 1000+ clips from EOS r6 10bit clog3 and a7iii 8bit final time of 1 and half hour in my laptop and it never had a single hic-cup. Might be due to the last build 636 update that it is much stable now.
Haha..got you there....its a windows 10 and I added startallback (https://startisback.com) for that sweet windows 7 logo only. I hate that boxy logo design of win 10. It's a msi prestige 15 11th gen i7 with 16gb ram. Video cards are Intel Iris Xe and Nvidia 1650. The intel graphics tends to do better when selected as primary for vegas pro since it runs parallel with nvidia and can decode faster that way. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Everyday Im reminded I will lose Windows 8.1 in less then a year. I saw some people posting their setups so I thought it might be a not bad idea to post mine.

  • Honestly, Windows 11 is not that impressive.
StartAllBack, startisback.com, 30-day trial and $4.99 after that. I wasn't totally satisficed with it. When Start11 added the Windows 10 start menu, I went back to it. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Is it preferred to overwrite old program versions, uninstall before installing the new one, or to use portables?
You mean something like this? Https://patchmypc.com/home-updater. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Existence of Windows Transfer Utility?
If you want to buy Macrium Reflect you can redeploy your old computer's image on to your new computer - MR sorts out the different hardware driver issues - but quite frankly it's usually best to copy over your personal files, fresh install 3rd-party software with something like Ninite, Patch My PC or WingetUI and then export the settings and app data over from the old computer. • Microsoft Store in Perpetual Update (I've tried everything Google has had to say but to no avail)
What I'm thinking now is you may just want to solve this with the nuclear option like this guy did - https://old.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/f4tw3k/cannot_open_any_microsoft_store_apps_windows/ A pain in the ass, but most 3rd-party applications can export settings, and a program like Patch My PC or winstall can reinstall software quickly. • 10->11 most efficient data transfer method
Transfer personal files over, use Patch My PC to install 3rd-party apps all at once and quickly, copy app settings over to new machine. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Reset & Backup On Win11
If you image your whole drive and then restore it, you'll be right back in the same exact place you are now. Back up your personal files, 3rd-party software settings (where possible) and browser bookmarks to external storage, do a PC reset from settings using the cloud option, reinstall 3rd-party software with Ninite or Patch My PC.
