StaffTimerApp HarvestWe used many tools in the past, though it became pricey for us. Depending on our current needs, we use free and premium versions of stafftimer app and both are working very well for us. One more gamechanger for us was the possibility to share a time tracking report per project/client - the perfect solution to allow clients to keep an eye on progress and costs.

It's very straightforward with the tracking system, and I love that you can either use the timer or add in the hours manually. The reports and dashboard give great graphics to review your progress which you can filter by different values, it's very useful. As a freelancer it is vital to keep track of my work on all the projects I do for billing accuracy, managing my time and future planning.

I use getharvest.com to track hourly and convert them to invoice. The only thing I don't like is that I have to add the task in the web dashboard rather than entering directly in the desktop app. There is 'note' field, but it won't show up in the invoice detail, so it is useless for me.
