  • Routing table confusion, or did Kirkland move to Kansas?
That's a community cli client https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli rather than the official cli client https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli. Source: 10 months ago
  • running script via cron does not provide full output
If you read the docs for Speedtest-CLI you will see that the program timeouts after 10 seconds. Try using this for default timeout of 1 minute and also redirect errors to the same file. Speedtest-cli --timeout 60 >> /bin/speedtestoutput.txt 2>&1. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Press 'Enter' to Run a SpeedTest (Update v2.5.4) - Self-Hosted SpeedTest - Docker
Already exists https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli/, mature, stable, packaged in major distributions. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Can I accept license agreements for my end-users?
I have an open-source software, which can show some stats about your PC/Server. One of those stats is internet speed. I have been using speedtest-cli for now, since it is open-source and runs without having to accept any license agreements. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Fast Network Speed, Slow Internet speeds
Ah that makes sense then. You could try out https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli instead on Ubuntu and see what that comes up with but if it’s still detecting a random, far-away server then you’ll have to use the help options to narrow down your test to your country. Or better yet, try and use the same one that’s fine on your PC 🙏. Source: about 2 years ago

  • Flent: The FLExible Network Tester
    > https://speed.cloudflare.com Love this. I'm used to use speedtest.net back in the day, but this is so much better in so many ways and provides so much more data. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Flent: The FLExible Network Tester
It is not in the same league as Flent, but I really like https://speed.cloudflare.com as an in-browser internet speed test. It's backed by a very densely deployed CDN, it tests both loaded and unloaded latency, and it reports jitter and draws candlestick plots. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Unbloating the Buffers
Followup: I just tested OpenWrt 23.05.2 + luci-app-sqm + cake with https://speed.cloudflare.com/ With the limit set to 1 Mbps (1000/1000), my upload latency dropped from 80ms to 25ms, but speed was hard-limited to 1000/1000. With the limit rasied to 1G/1G, cake stopped working and my upload latency returned to 80ms. So I stand by my original comment. You still have to configure the speed limits manually. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Issues with Fibre internet immediately after starting service
This is helpful, thank you. We weren't expecting anything being routed through a wall, just a longer cable. Speeds right next to the router on my phone were still like 20Mbps. I will try creating the two networks and seeing if that helps, though I still think there is something wrong with how it was set up. I've been using cloudflare (https://speed.cloudflare.com) for the tests which is in Mbps. Source: 5 months ago

What packet loss are you experiencing? Are you on wifi? If you do this test, do you see any packet loss here too? Source: 5 months ago
