No need to become a music creator if that's not your thing. Just avoid using commercial music in your videos. There are plenty of royalty-free music resources out there, allowing you to add a music background to your youtube video without the risk of getting a copyright infringement claim. As far as open-source software is concerned, you can use Lilypond [1]. Fully text-based transcription. You can edit, insert, splice, overwrite, etc. To your heart's content in your favorite text editor and get a high-quality engraving as output.
