Congratulations doll! Definitely sit down with your fiancé and get a general budget idea before really diving into any planning. As far as checklists/useful tools, I've used theknot.com to plan pretty much everything. You can input your own budget, manage your overall guest list, view vendors (including wedding planners) ect. The most important thing is for you and your guy to figure out a budget limit. I suggest you get a free membership at theknot or weddingwire.com (I prefer weddingwire) There is so much free stuff! They also have local forums, where you can ask about vendors or venues, and read reviews. In addition, they have customizable budget lists, which are super helpful. If you haven't done this yet, go get a free registration at weddingwire.com or theknot (I prefer weddingwire). They offer a bunch of services (customized planning lists, etc) but their biggest benefit is local forums, where you can get tons of reviews (not just on venue, but all vendors).
