I scanned those sights daily with added alerts for months as to find the best prices only to eventually purchase the tickets direct from the airline.   Others, try using Hotel.com and booking.com in advance, but they are not guaranteed rooms, and almost every year I see people trying to argue with the front desk that they have a reservation.
