BUTTTT there is a bezier curve plugin from the sketchucation.com that allows you draw parametric curves, It was a gamechanger for me. If dimensions are important than this is the way. Source: about 1 year ago
But of course there will always be cases where this is just not possible or economically feasible to do (It can be very time-consuming) so I've got a subscription to Poliigon as well - They've got very high quality materials, textures, HDRI's and models too and a very nice thing about their site is that you can pick exactly which 3D software and which render engine you're using, so you get a tailored product for... Nice :). Yes, I added falling snow in post. Ground is snow material from poliigon.com. Rest is done with poly snow plugin. I tried tyflow and forest pack with blobmesh, but poly snow was easiest and fastest way to add snow. Source: about 2 years ago
