I'm in no position to give advice but I felt that having a good CV and people skills definitely helped me. I used resume.io for my CV and cover letter, and can definitely recommend it. I have previously worked as a manager in a different industry and used to receive 1-2 CV's a day, a good looking CV really stands out amongst the pile of terrible ones. Anyway now go to coursera.org and for $49 a month get the Google IT Support Professional cert. That gives you a discount for the A+ exam. With a sob story Coursera may reduce the monthly fee as well. Anyway you are halfway to an IT degree and can be admitted to WGU. Source: 6 months ago

One of the hard parts of learning a language like python on your own is knowing what you should learn and the order you should learn it in--resources like these books or online courses you can find on Coursera are great for helping with that.
