  I know that at Linkedin you can post a job ad for free but the quality is pathetic. I recieved 900 applications in 1 hour and none of them was worth interviewing.   Bootstrap yourself with freelance work right from the start. I tried elance.com (now upwork.com) years ago and holy fuck this is not a get-rich-quick scheme. The idea is that you start out making ridiculously cheap bids to get the work, then earn reputation through doing that well, and gradually are able to increase your rates.
