Once you get into it, the power of subgroups, and lookahead/behind processing beats some of the mental gymnastics you would need to go to code it out in your language of choice. i’m a professional developer and I just relearn it every time I need it, which is about once or twice a year, but depending on someone’s specialty they may swim around in it all day. Lemmy is like Reddit and here because it has threaded comment discussions. The entire page is based on Lemmy (https://join-lemmy.org/). I disabled a ton of features and interface parts, as IMO the original lemmy interface is super noisy. Runs on bare-metal with docker-compose. For the facelift, just good old CSS :). - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
