  • [R] CLIP-Fields: Weakly Supervised Semantic Fields for Robotic Memory + Code + Robot demo
Best part, I believe, is that you should be able to train your own CLIP-Field for your living room if you have an hour, a decent GPU, and a way to get RGB-D video (an iPhone 13 Pro works great!) I hope you can give the code a try: https://github.com/notmahi/clip-fields or check out the website https://mahis.life/clip-fields/ for more interactive demos. • An End-to-End Guide to Photogrammetry with Mobile Devices
If you don't need publication-quality 3D models, the latest iPhones have built-in LIDAR sensors, both front (for facial recognition) and back (for AR). There are a variety of apps that can use these built-in sensors to build 3D models of the environment in what I think is a pretty painless and intuitive way. The results aren't publication-quality like the NYTimes' guide's results but it's quick, easy and "good... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Show HN: Object Detection in an Hour
Maybe worth to support front camera (TrueDepth camera) as well? Record3d gives pretty good accuracy (https://record3d.app/). I know probably not the best way to scan something without seeing the screen but better that than nothing. As a workaround people can use small mirror as well to do scanning and see result on the screen at the same time. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

  • How could I send .gcode wirelessly
The cheapest way is to use OctoPrint. Octoprint itself is free, and although it's often run on a Raspberry Pi, it can be installed on many things, such as an old laptop runing Linux or even Windows, or a small single-board computer. OctoPrint would connect to the printer using a USB cable, and you'd send the slicer output to Octoprint over your WiFi. Source: 6 months ago

  • Raspberry Pi 5
    - Two LibreELEC (https://libreelec.tv/) mediaplayers in house (yes, one is not enough in my big family). - One for hosting low usage applications at home network (Unifi controller and some more). - Octoprint (https://octoprint.org) connected to the 3d-printer. - One on my desk for hardware hacking – mostly as just a PC with GPIO. - Some Raspberry Pi Zeros as security cameras. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • [3D Printer] (Microcenter In-Store Only) Creality Ender 3 V2 3D Printer - $99.99 ($279.00-$179.01)
Really quite easy, especially if you have ever dealt with a raspberry pi before. Once installed & set up, you manage everything over a web interface. I even added a webcam to it in order to see what's going on. Check out https://octoprint.org/. Source: 11 months ago
  • Aquila X2 locking up after printing crash
For other devices it can be harder, there are guides for installing on Linux on the octoprint website (I use an old laptop running Linux Mint). If using an old Android phone look for Octo4A. Source: 12 months ago
