In my own case, I struggled for over a decade, to get anywhere at all useful with Spanish, until someone in this forum recommended readlang.com. I can't speak for anyone else, but for myself: just reading entire stories, as fast as I could, without stopping AT ALL when I ran into an unknown word, or tense, or idiom, made THE critical difference. Apart from possible options on this sub's wiki, I'd go with Fable Cottage's free bilingual stories and Beelinguapp. You can also check graded readers (so many options to choose from, with the most popular for beginners being the Dino lernt Deutsch series) and books with parallel text.
