  • There are no new social networks
    > Where is the public open chats of cyber space? It used to be every tech-savvy person had their own PhpBB instance and built small communities with that. All that has largely migrated to Discord, Reddit, Facebook Groups, and to a lesser extent: Lemmy & Mastodon. There's also quite niche and bespoke communities like Subreply[0], Tildes[1], and Raddle[2] (Built with Postmill). I prefer the Reddit style Karma system... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Lemmy.world has been hacked
Ironically, the anarchist site that the devs used to pour scorn on, Raddle, is still going just fine. Source: 10 months ago
  • Any "distressed people" have a feeling of nowhere to go?
I would check out https://raddle.me and https://beehaw.org. Both seem to be positive and cozy spaces. They might not have all the relevant communities but it's a good start. Source: 10 months ago
  • The final decision regarding DM Toolkit's future
My apologies, I will edit the post to redirect to the site. The site is available here. Source: 10 months ago
  • Anyone have recommendations for possible Reddit Alternatives for after July 1st?
I've seen some other alternatives such as raddle where independent users are trying to recreate the Reddit experience with a new platform (yet it doesn't seem to use the same Karma System, make of that what you will) but I'm still curious to see where everyone is going if large parts of Reddit disappear after July 1st... • Geddit: Open-source, Reddit client for Android without using API
See also: Stealth [https://gitlab.com/cosmosapps/stealth], which is a native Android app, and Teddit [https://codeberg.org/teddit/teddit], which is a mirror of Reddit, and also offers its own API. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Using the Quickddit reddit client for Ubuntu Touch, 30 minutes before it stops working
You could also use Stealth, and open the settings to change the Reddit Source to teddit, which uses reddit's public RSS feeds for fetching data, so it wont be affected by reddit's API changes. It doesn't support commenting or posting, but it's still okay for browsing. Source: 10 months ago
  • Boost could implement a web scraper to work without API access
The above picture shows how Stealth, another Android app, has implemented alternative ways to get Reddit data without the API. Stealth is open source, so anyone can see how they've done it. Source: 11 months ago
  • Best Reddit app for account-less usage?
Stealth for Reddit sounds like what youre looking for! Source: over 1 year ago
  • [REQUEST] This style of comments
The screenshot above is from the reddit client Stealth, which is a (purposely) limited reddit client where you can't log in but you can still make your own front page by following subs one by one and save liked post locally. Source: over 1 year ago
