  • various Lain themed winamp 2.x skins, made between 2000-2002 (retrieved from webamp's winamp skin museum)
Fun fact there is also a free open source winamp inspired muisc player called qmmp for Linux and Windows that supports winamp skins as well. http://qmmp.ylsoftware.com/. Source: 10 months ago
  • Name a program that doesn't get enough love!
Qmmp: Audio player. With the according skin it looks like good old Winamp. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Winamp is officially back because '90s nostalgia knows no bounds
Fascinating to see this today! Things I found interesting to consider: - They are integrating NFTs into their marketing - The default look goes all the way back, it seems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTrwP2eDRKQ - QMMP, similar to WinAMP with a lot of nice features, has a Qt 6 branch that is stable now http://qmmp.ylsoftware.com/ My top 5 favorite WinAmp / QMMP skins: - Benuamp Silver... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Winamp 5.9
There's another open-source media player that will let you load up WinAmp skins. But heck if I can remember what it was, or find it. It looks nothing like WinAmp without the skins though... While I was searching, I did find this though. http://qmmp.ylsoftware.com/ QMMP seems to be a QT-based player that looks like WinAmp. And I can't find a WinAmp clone that works on MacOS, either. I'm dying for one since I have... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Do you Elisa as your Audio Player and what's your UX?
I personally use qmmp which is a generic Qt audio player rather than a KDE specific one. Qmmp comes with two different user interfaces -- the default Winamp/XMMS style and simple UI which is somewhat reminiscent of foobar2000's columns UI, although more simple. I use the simple UI. • Spotify will reduce total headcount by 17% across the company
Lots and lots of FOSS music players use libspotify or can otherwise connect to your Spotify account. Here's just one. It's BYO frontend. https://mopidy.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Bandcamp support is faltering – maybe you should download your music now
Probably a good time to give a shout out to Mopidy: https://mopidy.com/ Though as for myself, I'm still running Squeezebox - nothing like being able to SSH into your smart speaker and mess around with the Perl system that's running it. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • I don't want streaming music, I just want to stream my music
I have a music library on my home server that I use mopidy to play via the iris plugin integrated into my home assistant UI. It plays over Snapcast which streams over the network to multiple devices in the home with independent volume control. I can fire up the Snapcast client in my phone to get it going there as well, which does work over vpn if I'm away, though I generally just fire up the files from my phones... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Whole home sync'd rpi audio w plex, spotify, airplay
Could instead use Mopidy as the music player, which has plugins for Spotify and Airplay support. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How I organize my digital music collection -- suggestions for metadata/storage/tools?
Thanks! I use it on a daily basis, but I don’t think it’s ready for a wider adoption yet — for example, a pause button is still missing ... I’d be curious to know your experience with it though! For something more stable, you might like Mopidy. Source: about 1 year ago
