  • Show HN: Rem: Remember Everything (open source)
Somebody else pointed out RescueTime, but if keeping it local is a priority, I recommend Qbserve, which I've been using (mostly passively in the background) for a few years now. [0] https://qotoqot.com/qbserve/. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Is there anything you’ve found immensely helpful in grad school?
One of the hardest things for me about grad school (that I'm still struggling with!) is figuring out how to schedule my own day when I have few external things keeping my day in shape for me. it's been really helpful just to have the data of how much time I usually spend on things/what I've done that day... I can see where all my time is going lmao and readjust as needed. I use toggl track in conjunction with... Source: 5 months ago
  • Is there any other app who tracks time automatically by monitoring every app, document, and website ?
Is https://qotoqot.com/qbserve/ actually doing this ? I can't seem to figure out if it tracks individual files inside apps. Source: about 1 year ago
  • What are your strategies for a productive writing session?
An unconventional, and somewhat uncomfortable bit of discipline: I used Qbserve (for mac), which is an automatic time tracker. I taught it which websites were productive (/r/LaTeX, StackExchange, and ArXiV.org) and which were not (/r/GradSchool etc lol). It notified me when I was spending too much time not being productive, and also notified me when I had done "enough". Source: over 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: How do you not keep track of what you did yesterday (and this morning)?
I use Qbserve [1] after seeing it mentioned in a previous thread. Really helpful for seeing where time was spent over the course of the day/week. Collected data all stored locally too [1] https://qotoqot.com/qbserve/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

  • Tips for someone starting out? I’m taking WFH more seriously than just my laptop
You're welcome! I use Timeular (https://timeular.com), which I really like because it works with a cube that controls the timer. You roll it around and the side up is the timing category. I find the feedback of a physical object very useful. I've also used Toggl, which is feature rich, works great as a Chrome extension, and has tons of integrations. There's a free version that's probably sufficient for most... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Do people have any recs for really good time blocking apps for calendars where you can preset daily tasks (eg exercise, meals)?
In Timeular you can set goals and track how much time you're dedicating to them. You can color code each activity and start-stop the timer and switch activities with keyboard shortcuts. Source: over 1 year ago
  • No more boring and complicated time management apps. Introducing Timeular: track time digitally and analogically.
We've built a nifty and intuitive time-tracking app paired with an analogic device to make time management more playful and physical. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How to manage multiple accounts, calendars & time tracking for remote work?
Https://timeular.com/ you can use their desktop tracker to switch clients/time tracking. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Best time tracker ?
I used Timeular some times ago and I liked the approach of the hardware piece... https://timeular.com/. Source: about 2 years ago
