An unconventional, and somewhat uncomfortable bit of discipline: I used Qbserve (for mac), which is an automatic time tracker. I taught it which websites were productive (/r/LaTeX, StackExchange, and ArXiV.org) and which were not (/r/GradSchool etc lol).
