  • Students, what features would you like to see on Windows 12?
    1) a scientific calculator with history and variables with a UI similar to https://sourceforge.net/projects/alt1-calculator/ that also can do units like https://qalculate.github.io/ 2) a tiny text chat direct message program that is similarly as easily accessible at Atl1 3) a minimalist dock of as many instances you would like similar to https://punklabs.com/rocketdock, and like where WIN opens the start menu, WIN... • Paint on Windows is getting layers and transparency support
Qalculate is my go-to for cross platform calculator that is useful and is not limited to the most basic +-*/ operations. https://qalculate.github.io/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Keisan Casio is shutting down
If you want a self-hosted replacement for Keisan I strongly suggest looking at Qalculate! https://qalculate.github.io/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • GNU Units
I personally use Qalculate (https://qalculate.github.io/), specifically their CLI version for this purpose. I'm not sure how well it compares to GNU Units, but it works well enough for my needs; and it's fairly simple using English-like syntax. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Ask HN: Do you still use a hand held/desktop calculator?
On the terminal, I use `qalc`[1]. It's a nice natural language calculator that does arithmetic, solves quadratic equations/linear systems, does unit conversions and even a bit of calculus. Combine it with a cli graphing tool and you can do pretty cool things. Anything more complicated I'm probably ok with latency, so I open up wolframalpha and enter it there, again, in natural language. [1]... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago

  • What font is this?
Sure, there's WhatFontIs, WhatTheFont, Font Squirrel's Matcherator, there are the forums on dafont, or there's identifont, but I think that one relies on descriptions to identify fonts rather than using an image. Source: 5 months ago
  • whatfontis website detect uBO
Take this image if you don't have one > https://i.imgur.com/mOknL1F.png , Then go to whatfontis.com , upload the "text" image, then the next page will show the anti-addblocker. Source: 7 months ago
  • What should my process be for vectorizing logos that clients send me?
    - For font matching, I've found whatfontis.com to be more accurate than What The Font. If the font isn't free to download, on the font page you might be able to type in a custom preview, enlarge the font size to the max, then screenshot and bring into Illustrator -> Image Trace. It's far from perfect, but it can be accurate enough to pass if there are no other options. Source: 10 months ago
  • Font for cursive Wildcats / RGB or HEX for Lavender
Not sure on the font. I tried myfonts.com and whatfontis.com, which resulted in some similar fonts, but not an exact match. Source: 11 months ago
  • Bleed Out album cover font
I've identified fonts for a few albums/JD things in the past (like this — https://www.reddit.com/r/themountaingoats/comments/p3emi4/for_anyone_interested_in_the_typeface_used_on_the/ — and this — https://www.reddit.com/r/themountaingoats/comments/akqdwj/in_league_w_fonts/) and thought I had for Bleed Out but looking at my post history, I never did. And quickly looking at whatfontis.com and fontsquirrel.com, I... Source: about 1 year ago
