I've used Rake and Fabric for somewhat similar (but less ambitious) stuff in the past and I'm thinking that Fabric might be a pretty good fit for this task as well, but I'd still like your input. Are there other tools I should look into? Well, it depends on the language. Some are quite good at restricting programs so that it is not possible to execute arbitrary code. Take a look at https://propellor.branchable.com to see how Haskell might be used.
