Pydio Cells (https://pydio.com/) is a great open-source selfhosted file sync and sharing alternative to Nextcloud. It supports, and strongly recommends the use of an S3 compatible storage backend. It actually works better with S3 storage than a normal file system storage. Take a look at Tonido (tonido.com). Install the tonido software on your computer, set up an account for user ID and password and then you can specify which drives and folders are accessible. Once set up, you can access the 'server' through the web by going to userid.tonidoid.com . There you'll enter your password and then will be presented a web view of the folder structure.
