It looks like a pretty stock D9 site using Drupal Commerce but the actual commerce bits look to be decoupled: the add to cart form is a small React app and interacts with API endpoints. I really felt you when you said when you told your cat you would take her to the vet. I done the same thing with my cats. I would even push my kitties away when they tried climbing onto my keyboard while I gambled. 😭 I'm not sure if you tried talking to animal hospital about payments, but some allow it.
