PTGui is probably the best panostitching software package, but it's not for casual users who occasionally stitch as a personal-use license is about US$159 and a PTGui Pro license is $317. Zbrush is the gold standard and it's not cheap. It has recently switched to subscription only. Zbrush also offers a stripped down free version for beginners and dabblers called Zbrush Core Mini.
