The editing process is more of a checklist. Reading and re-reading out loud, just to see if the language flows well and if there are too many jumps in the flow, enhancing the article with images, research, and links where necessary, proofreading with Grammarly, etc. The last step is scheduling the posts that are ready onto a calendar. What should go out when? How I can repurpose and cross-link content. Which... Source: over 1 year ago
One of the things I noticed that I tend to do is build up a milestone I want to achieve, especially “the first x” and make a big deal about it in my head. Like when I was building Proxies API, I would build this narrative that I couldn’t wait to finish developing. It creates weird anxiety that helps nobody. Then when I finished it, I would make a big deal about “the first customer.” “If only I can get my first... Source: over 1 year ago
It is a lie. Now I have about four items on my to-do list every day. But when I started my bootstrapped startup, Proxies API, I only had two things on my to-do list for months. a) Make the product better every day b) Write every day The reason for this is: a) I believe a startup, in the beginning, is nothing but the sum of the founder’s habits. b) Habits are the dependable assets of the startup. c) Even if... It happens especially when you start and also when you finish a project. These rules enabled me to code and launch my SAAS product, Proxies API in under a month. I teach this rule to every new hire I make in the company. It’s fun to get an instant boost in everyone’s productivity by showing them this. After all, it only takes 2 mins to teach them this. Your job is to persuade your clients by making a great product and talking about it. Period. Think about it, if you have an idea and you are raring to go with it to the market, isn’t it unnatural and weird to first find a co-founder? Isn’t there something wrong with this picture? Yet, this is what some VCs insist on. However, if you happen to be discussing an idea with someone, and you both are enthusiastic about... Source: over 1 year ago
Thanks for the feedback! One big distinction with the "site:https://news.ycombinator.com" hack is that the search on Hacker Search directly runs against the underlying link's contents, rather than whatever happens to be on HN. We also more directly leverage HN's curation by factoring in scores. Appreciate your suggestions; will look into building those! - Source: Hacker News / 5 days ago
Nice work! I'm sure you know that you can also search Google with site:https://news.ycombinator.com. If I were you I would probably think of a niche where one can get better results by searching HN and other relevant data sources. Another suggestion is not about the search so much but about the UI. One of the worse things about sites like HN is that it's really hard to... - Source: Hacker News / 5 days ago
I'm not sure how much value making something "not fugly" really matters. Design should be based on functionality, not anti-fugliness. In my experience, design considerations should come after building a successful growth "feedback loop." (Or whatever you want to call it.) At that point, you may decide making your website look "polished" isn't even necessary. IMDB was certainly quite ugly for a long time.... - Source: Hacker News / 22 days ago
User input does not need to be sanitized if it is programmatically inserted into the document as the value of a key in a regular dict section. To work, I assume the target model needs to be trained on Braq documents with emphasis on the fact that only the top unnamed section contains root instructions (equivalent to the "system" role in ChatML). This can definitely be used for front end testing. Just tell it to do something like a user and monitor whether it's successful or not Here's a prompt example to try out { "url": "https://news.ycombinator.com", "navigation_goal": "goal is met if you see a post from basiep2. Terminate if you don't" }. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
