  • 10% of retirees have $1M+ in savings
For those in the US trying to do retirement planning I highly recommend trying: https://projectionlab.com/ I first saw it shared on HN and I've been a happy customer for the past year and the ability to compare the impact of different scenarios has helped me make a few big financial decisions. Good community around it for asking questions too. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • What are your Top 3 most desired features for YNAB?
Tools for future planning - Think ProjectionLabs. Heck a collab with the developer would be fantastic. I know there is currently an extension for it, but having it directly integrated would be more ideal. Source: 6 months ago

  • Show HN: Paisa – Open-Source Personal Finance Manager
It's interesting how many tools can analyze where your money has been going, but few go deep on the planning + forecasting side. Have you thought about building out the "retirement" module more? If you need any inspiration, I've been working on a personal finance simulator for the past two and a half years as a side project (https://projectionlab.com) Really great job with the docs on this, and I love that you... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago

  • Suggestions for HELOC provider?
My mortgage holder, Wells Fargo, no longer offers HELOCs. I browsed bankrate.com and nerdwallet.com and see many providers, but only a few banks. I do not recognize many of the companies on the list. (Ex: https://www.nerdwallet.com/mortgages/heloc-rates). Source: 10 months ago
  • Can I get a mobile home with no credit?
I would try renting first and when you are happy where you are and with your job for awhile consider getting a new homebuyers loan. Also, you need to work on your credit for that to happen. Call a bank and ask about a prepaid credit card. Then use that card to pay a small monthly bill (3-7% of the allotted credit) that you can have taken straight out of your checking account (at that same bank or a different one).... • Is Minnesota liberal?
Tough choice between Minneapolis and Portland. I'd stay away from DC personally. I love it here in Minnesota, but have friends just outside Portland who like it there as well. Both areas have good schools in the suburbs and are great cities. I think public transit is better in Portland is better and you can't beat the wilderness opportunities in Oregon, but Minnesota has a TON of great parks and wilderness as... Source: about 1 year ago
