Despite the pearl clutching on HN about assassinations (you know killing a CEO after shorting stock is very similar), prediction markets have been a fairly popular for a few years as blockchain tech has risen. And the sky has not fallen! One example is Polymarket: https://polymarket.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago

That's unfortunate to hear, I haven't followed these projects in a while. Looks like their competitor PolyMarket is now the most popular prediction market: https://polymarket.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
I was torn between sharing a link to the homepage and sharing a link to an interesting market. I think this is a really cool alternative to real-money markets like Polymarket[1] and fake-money markets like Metaculus[2] given the perilous regulatory environment. Unfortunately, my package for the blossom hat got lost in transit and I was refunded but smash.gg can't produce these anymore because of how it's an embroidered product. I've actually DM'd smash.gg (start.gg now) about this a bit ago and since most of their stuff is made-to-order after the shops close, they don't really have excess stock unfortunately. So most likely the only way to really get older merch would be if someone happens to sell it on eBay or something. Sorry! I would love to buy some of the merch from shops I missed the window on too. Would be cool to augment something like this with the char popularity stats (would love if something official was published from slippi, but maybe could infer from smash.gg?). Source: over 1 year ago
