The idea being you could play against your friends or stangers with the same physical cards. Not sure if it's the same with your venue but ours required pokemon.com "Let's Play" IDs. You'll need to create your account on pokemon.com then add your child to your account at which point you can get both of your "Let's Play" IDs.
