Out of curiosity, I checked to see if it would allow me to add a year to my existing yearly subscription, but that was not allowed. I expected that outcome since the playon.tv website indicated it was for new yearly subscriptions, "YOUR 1ST YEAR". Source: almost 2 years ago
I have tried something like this before using obs ,i just used my phone and a usb c to hdmi cable to the capture device from phone to computer.i cant remember what I copied I just remember it was netflix and I had to start obs recording a few seconds before and after recording.i think I recorded in 1920x1080 and it worked fine.i only did it like once or twice since I discovered playon.tv .when I bought that... Have you looked at playon.tv it was a life saver for me when I wanted to download movies from my streaming sites I have a subscription too. It esentially just records the video in 720 or 1080 its a paid service but I find it works very well.so you might look at the other options to that have been listed here besides mine.i just wanted to add mine because it has really helped me. This appears to open Safari to playon.tv but the page is black. Closing the page or touching the back arrow takes me back to the Playon app. I don't see any way to cancel the plan. Anybody know what to do now? Source: almost 3 years ago
That definitely doesn't look like a standard movie site that playon.tv supports and they'd discontinued the screen capture portion of their app a few downgrades ago. You've got a ton of apps running, perhaps even several tabs within each open browser, have you tried recording with fewer apps running to see if this changes the recording quality? Honestly? I use https://beets.io/ to organise all my FLAC on my NAS. I expose the /Music directory over NFC. I use https://kodi.tv/ to stream music to my amp. I manually pick the album I want to listen to. Kodi also has a fairly reasonable web UI. Keep it simple. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
Do yourself a favor, get a shitty PC or raspberry pi, plug it into your TV, and install Kodi on it. Source: 11 months ago
Kodi sounds like what you're describing. You connect it to a tv and it can play media from your network, or use add-ons for internet streaming. I'm not sure if it includes the most popular streaming services, but I suppose you could use a browser for those. Source: 11 months ago
For example, the Jellyfin AndroidTV app won’t direct play a lot of my media so it has to transcode. So I now use the Jellyfin for Kodi Addon on Kodi and I’ve never had to transcode. Source: 12 months ago
