  • PhotoPrism: Browse Your Life in Pictures
I looked at a bunch of these 2 years ago and ended up using PhotoView for a private gallery. It had the right mix of simplicity and features, and I was actually able to get it running. https://github.com/photoview/photoview. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Image delivery for weddings
I can suggest 3 options. * Photoview - It is like a gallery with recursive folder structure (folders inside folders) support. You can create shareable links for the folders, with password protection. The UI is great. And your clients will be able to download the complete folder, also individual images at either full resolution or reduced. The issue is you cannot use the UI to add or delete photos, but it can be a... Source: 12 months ago
  • Photos: nextcloud? Immich?
I have tried A LOT of solutions and I finally stopped after using Nextcloud and Photoview. I synchronise files from my computer to Nextcloud using rclone and view them on Photoview whenever I need. You can sync to you nextcloud using their official app on phone. I use Photoview because I have not found a single self-hosted solution that keeps the folder structure and lets me view them as both, in folder structures... Source: 12 months ago
  • Amazon Photos just ate 240,364 of my photos
Self-host and use Photoview [1], it has face recognition. I use this since 2 years with 5TB of photos (on ZFS) and it works flawlessly. It is worth it - everything under your control and you decide when to migrate. [1]:https://github.com/photoview/photoview. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

  • We need more of Richard Stallman, not less
    >The organization and ideas should transcend an individual. It is never the case is my observation (as much as I want you to be correct). Any attempt to detach individual form the goals/idea of an organization leads to bureaucracy, incompetence, and perhaps most importantly authoritarianism of the evil kind. ( there are relatively benign versions of authoritarianism ) >when the ideas seem to be really more needed... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • We need more of Richard Stallman, not less
The organization and ideas should transcend an individual. The organization right now seems headed for irrelevance, when the ideas seem to be really more needed now that ever. Right now he’s and his camp are in charge, so if he and the group want to run it into the ground so be it. Hopefully the ideas live on and some group can carry it forward. I always thing back to media goblin as something that should be... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Looking for a selfhosted public photo album, ideally similar to Imgur
The closest one I can think of to imgur is Mediagoblin. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Self-Hosting Public-Facing NextCloud Server
Personally, I wouldn't use Nextcloud for photos. Instead, I'd look at Lychee, Media Goblin or something dedicated to photo hosting. Lychee looks great, but turned me off because when I looked at it, it seemed to be like Apple Photos in that it puts image files in a database file instead of just raw files in folders.
