PathFinder better finder, replaces stock finder. Source: over 2 years ago
Cocoatech’s Path Finder is much faster to read folder content than any other complex finder like product (Finder, Forklift, QSpace). If you want even for reactivity, try Marta. Source: over 2 years ago
It's personal preference so I'm not commenting on it. If "file explorer" by your definition is a window with have multiple columns for displaying file hierarchy, file list of current working directory, and file preview, get Pathfinder (https://cocoatech.com/). I myself can never understand why any people with sanity can work in that pesky layout that wastes two/third of screen space. Source: over 2 years ago
Path Finder, ForkLift, and HoudahSpot are fine adjuncts/alternatives that are worth a try. Source: over 3 years ago
I worked with John Wiegley for a couple of years and discovered one of his projects, Ledger (https://ledger-cli.org/), during our conversations. This tool taught me double-entry accounting and helped me understand finance and blockchains on a deeper level. There are also several forks, most popular and advanced is `hledger` https://hledger.org/ (h is for... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
If it helps anyone, I wrote a blog post[0] (based on this comment[1]) explaining how double-entry accounting works. I have recently been thinking about building my own program that implements double-entry accounting in a more approachable form for individuals. I’m not sure if pure accounting concepts are ideal for the average person for keeping track of their budget like how they are essential for businesses. My... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
I learnt all of this by using ledger[0] and, of course, reading its manual. I've been maintaining my own accounts for more than a decade now. It's fun being able to plot my overall wealth and expenses over time. [0] https://ledger-cli.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
