If I had to do this, I'd probably try to find a youtube video of the game that happens to have the character in it, take a screenshot of the character, and then use a tool like https://removal.ai/ to extract the sprite. Source: about 1 year ago
At this point, I will need to process all of the images that have a white background with remove.bg. I processed a few images with both remove.bg and removal.ai.
