Fosshost C.I.C. is a non-profit UK-registered Community Interest Company (CIC), Limited by Guarantee, without share capital. Launched in April 2020 by founder and present CEO Thomas Markey to provide open-source projects and initiatives access to no-cost distributed cloud computing services.

Today, we help provide world-class hosting services to hundreds of open source projects.

To make this a success, we operate several nodes, which our hosting sponsors usually donate, and the Fosshost Volunteers manage the infrastructure donated to us on behalf of the projects we help. Those open-source projects eligible for our services typically apply for a virtual private server (VPS).

You can apply for all of our services via the application form or read more about the services we offer here.

Fosshost Reviews

  1. This project changed my life.

Since hearing that "somebody named RMS" was going to "change the world by giving away an operating system", I've dreamed of making a lasting, meaningful contribution to the world through my contributions to FOSS. Thomas Markey, and the rest of the team, in creating FOSSHOST, have inspired me to focus my adult life around making that goal tactical.

Fosshost can provides all of the tools a person needs to make this goal their own.

I'm proud to support this project as a volunteer and of my employer for recognizing FOSSHOST along with FSF and SPI as important targets for our charitable giving via a recent email blast to employees.

๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Diversity as a key orginizing principle|Free to use|Approachable via mentorship and flexability
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    Foss only service provider
  2. Amazing

My software repository for Arch and Arch-based Linux distributions is hosted at Fosshost for almost a year. So far, the experience has been superb. The performance of the Virtual Machine is really really good, the community is super friendly, and they are there to help if any issue arises.

    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    High performance|Great customer support|Fast support|Community|Open-source
