ddg is my favorite search engine and it has great restutes. It has a built in video player too! The only problem is that i have to use google in a blue moon to get the results it need. Duckside! Brave! Lunix!

I haven't seen a mention of the Oil Shell (https://oilshell.org) project's OSH/YSH yet and I'm quite surprised. Oils goal is that OSH is just a new Bash implementation (although not bug-for-bug) but with an upgrade-path to the more modern YSH for real programming with type safety etc, but still as a shell language. One of their exciting ideas is using code as data in a somewhat lisp-like manner to allow function... - Source: Hacker News / 23 days ago
(author here) Yeah you just repeated what https://oilshell.org/ is You'd want to be able to go $NEWSH my-bash-script.sh and it should just work. $NEWSH my-newsh-script.nsh should also work, obviously.- Source: Hacker News / 6 months agoosh my-bash-script.sh # works, it's the most bash-compatible shell by a mile.
> I know how and love to write in bash. But oh god was it painful to learn This is very well said :) > Sad that there's nothing established to take its place (Perl is read-only, python is not good enough as unix glue, everything else is too obscure). Is there anything notable? Either particularly well designed, or just popular? I think I've only ever heard of Oil (https://oilshell.org). - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
In our fork for https://oilshell.org/ , and it made a lot more sense to people. It's funny how "sticky" syntax is -- because two contributors ALSO read * as "pointer" ! So I changed into the MyPy syntax after 5 years, and concluded I should have done that quite awhile ago. --- The funny thing is that while the web page says "Abstract Grammar", I would not call Zephyr ASDL a grammar. Python has a separate... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago

Also, these totally unrelated stories. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=older+women+misinformation&df=m&ia=web I have a loved one getting an emergency hysterectomy (and then what follows) so I guess it's on my mind. - Source: Hacker News / 7 days ago
Recently I have been fascinated by the awesomeness of wire bending machines. Has anyone done any really funky stuff purely with wire bending? I am thinking furniture scale creations, green walls, giant sculpture, etc. Haven't quite got the timespace to build one but should be straightforward assuming small guage wire. There are some open source ones published:... - Source: Hacker News / 8 days ago
It's deskbound (until 2027 it looks like) so that rules out worksites but is far too constrained (and pretty) for traders and military use. You list "product development", "leaders", and "international teams" as potential roles, but as evidenced by the responses in this thread, many people who do product development treat synchronous voice comms as an abomination. The closest I can imagine would be call centers --... - Source: Hacker News / 10 days ago
