It varies for different people. Around 2/3 months for me. Recovery is a 1000% better, like shockingly good. Would stick to the diet. Also, are you consuming enough fat? nutritionix.com can help you with that figuring that out if you need to. Source: about 1 year ago
I will note that when eating /drinking away from home, I NEVER order a fountain drink or any drink in a "to go" cup or any drink prepared by a restaurant. (except water) There have been too many times when it comes and it is NOT diet soda, but is regular. OH and use alltrails.com to look up trails you're interested in and see the latest conditions. If I were you, and people are saying there's an active bear on a trail I would avoid it since you are alone. You'll find some trails people mention not great visibility around some corners or due to huckleberry bushes...I'd avoid those too on your own. Bears might be into huckleberry when you get there and the last thing... Source: 12 months ago
