In fact, if using a modern graphics pipeline with shaders, you will actually have to learn how to draw a single rectangle to your screen, and then use that knowledge to draw (anti-aliased) lines, rectangles, arcs, circles, ellipses, etc. too. If you need the GUI system, then you will be binding against Java and it will be very time consuming. You might be better off looking at some of the young wxWidgets / Qt Android ports. Or simply using a light OpenGL based UI library like Nuklear (or newer). Source: almost 3 years ago

Alternatively no-code platforms are growing fast. There are some that are incredibly robust and allow you to build and iterate quickly on an idea. If you're looking for mobile, I'd recommend AppGyver, it's built with React Native behind the scenes and works really well for most app cases. I've built out some apps on it before and gotten them into Apple's TestFlight. The only downside is it doesn't offer backend... Source: over 2 years ago
